Real Salman Agah Camel
Hawk's got the hawk, Cab's got the dragon, Vallely's got the elephant, Salman's got the camel. I've been looking for an image of this board for a while. So sick. Salman's first pro model... the stripes, the camel. So simple yet so awesome. And it spawned a line of heather gray/navy blue rugby shirts! He is THE dude who IMO started the switch revolution. Saw him in Toronto for a Real demo and he slayed it! Mad power skater and he was such a nice guy. Can't believe his first Real part isn't up anywhere online. wtf!

Control Skateboards x Vivid Video
I first heard about this woodshop called Control out of Quebec back when I was gathering info for this post. I never knew they had a brand with sponsored riders and pro models. And apparently, they have a licensing agreement with Vivid video to have images of some of their stars appear on a series of graphics for their pro models. A pretty strange collaboration.

Skate Warehouse Bailout Sale
This sale is pretty massive. Coupon still works. Spend over $150, get $50 off. Spend over $250, get $100 off. Free shipping. I picked up two decks (a Black Label and a Habitat), a pair of DC Smith 2.0's and Etnies Taylor's for $115usd. No offense to the local shops, but that would be like buying two decks in town and getting the shoes for free. Skateboard prices in Canada are jacked.

Alien Workshop Mind Field
For those of you who haven't seen it yet...
EDIT.
Ok. Looks like they took it down. In that case, enjoy Inhabitants.

SMA Julien Stranger Syringe
I never really understood this graphic when it was first released (I was in grade 9). I didn't know anything about shooting up illicit street drugs. I thought it had something to do with doctors/hospitals. I believe this was Julien's first pro model. He was amazing in those first two Speed Wheels videos. Loose truck carving style never looked so good. Board image from Disposable.

Hong Kong Jimmy
Hong Kong Jimmy backside heel at Griffin. This was at the time of the first Slam City Jam contest. He's originally from Hong Kong, moved to Toronto, then to Ottawa for university, back to Toronto and now he's settled in Hong Kong. What can be said about this guy...
The red Volvo blasting hip hop with bone jarring bass.
"Dooode! Let's palty!"
"Dooode! Giiilrs!"
His fs bluntslide manual out.
So many Weiss, Bokma and Norm shenanigans.
My friend Randal does the best impression of Jimmy and has so many legendary stories about him ranging from conversations about turtles, tar, ?donkey? style, Real/Stereo demo hijinx and his Fuct hat wearing dog back in Hong Kong. The dude was definitely a character.
I got to see him in 1999 when my wife and I stopped in Hong Kong on our way to Singapore. He showed us a great time with his crew. I know he also had a photo in a Big Brother Hong Kong article doing an ollie over a rail (if my memory serves me right). Thanks to my man E at Chrome Ball Incident for hooking up the scan.

Rosetta Stoners
I first encountered the Rosetta Stone series of language learning when I moved to Mexico and I had to learn Spanish. It's supposed to work really well but I basically ended up learning Spanish because no one in the city I lived in spoke English. Awesome clip from the Lakai website. English with JB and Jesus, two of my favourite skaters. Holy crap JB is smooth.

Alien Workshop - Memory Screen & Time Code
If you haven't seen the excellent new Alien Workshop video Mind Field, go down to your local skate shop and demand they play it for you or purchase your own copy. You won't be disappointed. In the meantime, check out their first video Memory Screen, which was released in 1991 and one of my favourite videos of all time, and their second video Time Code, which was released in 1997 and I actually only really saw it once when it first came out. Holy crap I'm old.

Mark Appleyard
A recent interview with one of the smoothest skaters of all time. And he's Canadian.
Love the bs ollie bs late shove and the bs nose grind bs 180 out. Landing look harsh... cobblestones with grass growing in the cracks.
